STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island Neighbors has reached a major milestone: 50,000 members, marking another chapter in the rapid growth of a community that has become a daily destination for Staten Islanders looking for local information, recommendations and conversations.
The milestone is especially significant considering the current Staten Island Neighbors Facebook community was re-created in May 2025. In a relatively short period of time, tens of thousands of Staten Islanders have joined the group, helping rebuild and expand a community brand that has become increasingly recognizable across the borough.
But the story goes beyond the 50,000-member mark.
Recent Facebook group insights show just how active the community has become. Over the most recent 60-day period shown, Staten Island Neighbors recorded approximately 4.86 million content views and more than 113,000 posts and comments.
On some days, content within the community has generated close to 200,000 views in a single day.
Those numbers reflect what Staten Island Neighbors has increasingly become: a real-time community resource powered by Staten Islanders themselves.
A Community Built Around Staten Island
Every day, residents use Staten Island Neighbors to ask for recommendations, discuss neighborhood issues, share local news, find lost pets, learn about events, help neighbors and discover businesses and services throughout the borough.
A resident looking for a contractor can ask thousands of neighbors for their experiences. Someone who notices something happening in their neighborhood can share it with the community within minutes. Local events can reach residents who otherwise may never have known they were happening.
That constant exchange of information is what has helped transform Staten Island Neighbors from simply another social media group into a recognizable local community network.
And the growth continues.
Even as the group approached 50,000 members, hundreds of additional Staten Islanders continued joining each week.
Connecting Residents With Local Businesses
The size and activity of the community also creates an increasingly valuable connection between Staten Island residents and the businesses that serve them.
Local recommendations have always been one of the most common conversations in neighborhood communities. Residents routinely ask where to eat, who to hire, where to shop and which local professionals other Staten Islanders trust.
As Staten Island Neighbors has grown, those conversations now have the potential to reach an audience comparable in size to a significant portion of the borough.
That is also why the broader SINeighbors.com Recommended Business Network has become an important part of the community’s development.
Rather than turning the community into a stream of advertisements, Staten Island Neighbors has worked to create a structured way for established local businesses to become part of the network while preserving the resident-focused conversations that made the community successful in the first place.
For participating businesses, that means being connected to a growing ecosystem where Staten Islanders are already discussing what they need, asking for recommendations and discovering local companies.
For residents, it provides another way to find and learn about businesses serving Staten Island.
More Than a Facebook Group
The long-term vision for Staten Island Neighbors has continued expanding beyond social media.
SINeighbors.com now brings together local news, community events, jobs, business listings, deals, giveaways and other Staten Island resources in one place, while the Facebook community continues providing the conversations and connections that happen throughout the day.
Together, the website and social communities are developing into a broader Staten Island-focused network designed around one simple idea: make it easier for Staten Islanders to connect with their neighbors, their community and the local businesses around them.
Reaching 50,000 members represents an important milestone in that journey.
But perhaps the bigger accomplishment is what those 50,000 people have created together — a community where a question, recommendation, local story or request for help can quickly reach thousands of fellow Staten Islanders.
Thank you to every Staten Islander who has joined, contributed, helped a neighbor, shared a recommendation or simply followed along.
50,000 members — and Staten Island Neighbors is still growing.
