A new community challenge will give Staten Islanders a chance to win prizes while discovering and supporting local businesses across the borough.
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island Neighbors is getting ready to launch a brand-new community competition designed to bring residents and local businesses together in a fun new way: The Recommended Business Challenge.
The challenge will turn the growing network of Recommended Businesses on SINeighbors.com into an interactive community game — giving Staten Islanders another reason to discover local businesses while giving participating businesses increased exposure to the community.
And yes, there will be prizes.
How the Recommended Business Challenge Works
When a new challenge is announced, residents will be asked to visit SINeighbors.com and browse the Staten Island Neighbors Recommended Business directory.
To enter, participants will:
- Visit SINeighbors.com
- Browse the Recommended Businesses
- Choose a business from the directory
- Return to the official challenge post and comment with the name of their chosen business
Once entries close, Staten Island Neighbors will randomly select one Recommended Business from the directory as the winning business.
Participants who selected that business will have a chance to win the featured prize.
That means every challenge could have a completely different winning business — and every Recommended Business has the opportunity to be part of the excitement.
More Than Just a Giveaway
The Recommended Business Challenge is designed to do something different.
Instead of asking residents to simply like a post or leave a random comment, the challenge encourages Staten Islanders to actually explore local businesses they may not have discovered before.
Participants might find their next contractor, restaurant, attorney, photographer, auto shop, home service company, retailer or other local business while searching for their challenge entry.
For businesses, that means something equally important: visibility.
During each challenge, residents will be browsing the Recommended Business directory and commenting with the names of businesses they choose.
A business doesn’t have to be the eventual winning selection to benefit. The challenge is designed to put Recommended Businesses in front of more Staten Islanders and generate conversation around local businesses throughout the community.
A New Benefit for Recommended Businesses
The Recommended Business Challenge will become another way Staten Island Neighbors highlights the businesses participating in its local business network.
Recommended Businesses already receive a dedicated listing on SINeighbors.com and opportunities to participate throughout the Staten Island Neighbors community.
Now, their businesses can also become part of a recurring challenge promoted to the community.
Each new challenge creates another opportunity for residents to browse the directory, discover participating businesses and become familiar with the companies supporting and serving Staten Island.
Own a Staten Island Business?
If your business isn’t currently part of the Staten Island Neighbors Recommended Business network, now is a great time to join.
Only businesses listed as Recommended Businesses on SINeighbors.com will be eligible to be selected as the winning business in the Recommended Business Challenge.
Joining also gives businesses access to additional opportunities within the Staten Island Neighbors network, including business listings, community exposure and features designed to connect local companies with Staten Island residents.
As the network continues to grow, Staten Island Neighbors plans to introduce even more ways to connect residents with participating local businesses.
